Media Hosting For Your Classroom Podcast

Media Hosting For Your Classroom Podcast

You inspired your students to record audio and create a podcast. You wanted your students to create engaging content and they have created diverse shows covering interesting topics and they have great podcast segments.

Now, what do you do with files you or they have recorded? You need to host your audio files somewhere that can they can be accessed by those you want to share them with. If you want to limit who has access to the content then you can get by with using simple cloud storage offered by Google or Dropbox. However, if you're serious about creating a podcast then you need a media host to house your files so others can access them for streaming or downloading.

PODBEAN.COM (FREE)

"Podbean is an easy and powerful way to start podcasting. Everything you need. No technology to learn." With Podbean, you can create professional podcasts in minutes without any programming knowledge. Their user-friendly interface allows you to upload, publish, manage and promote your podcasts with just a few clicks of your mouse. Just point, click and execute. How easy is that?

You can start on Podbean for free and you get 50mb. It's a great place to start but you would have to remove older episodes as you add new ones to your account.

Podbean offers 3 paid plans ($3, $9, $99) that begin with 100mb of storage per month and then jump to unlimited storage and bandwidth.

Podbean will also generate an RSS feed that you can submit to iTunes and other podcast directories.

SPREAKER (FREE)

Spreaker is a complete podcasting solution, offering a wide range of tools and features to give you a professional sound. Find out how Spreaker is different from other media hosts.

Spreaker also offers a free broadcasting studio for iPhone, iPad, Android phone and tablet, and Desktop.

While Spreaker offers the ability to start for free I recommend their $4.99 for student or classroom podcasting.

BLUBRRY (PAID)

Blubrry is a paid media host and for your money, you will get EVERYTHING you need to host and market your classroom podcast.

Blubrry offers media hosting, reliable statistics, access to PowerPress Sites for designing your podcast website.

Clicking here and get 1 month FREE for whichever plan you choose. If you decide later use the Promo Code: NESI to get the same deal.

LIBSYN (PAID)

This recommendation is based on my personal use of Libsyn for the House of #EdTech Podcast! When compared to the other options Libsyn stands 1 and 1A with Blubrry and Spreaker in terms of quality of service and each companies knowledge of podcasting and support of their users.

I pay Libsyn $7 per month for 50mb of storage and unlimited bandwidth for my podcast's MP3 files. I also use Libsyn to generate the RSS feed for my podcast that I submitted to iTunes and a number of other podcast directories.

You can also get your first month FREE when you use the promo code NESI at sign-up.
