Content Ideas For Your Classroom Podcast

Content Ideas For Your Classroom Podcast

I have been creating the House of #EdTech podcast since January 2014 and it's always fun to explore and choose the topics I will discuss. The content is what makes the podcast successful. It's not about the mic or software or the website.

Content is KING!

If you're already podcasting with your students or are considering podcasting with students then you will find value in these 5 content ideas for your classroom podcast.

1. QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS FROM YOUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY.

Solicit questions and comments from other students in class or reach out to other students and teachers in your school. You could conduct surveys on current event topics from local sports to movies and films.

2. NEWS FEEDS RELATED TO THE TOPIC OF YOUR PODCAST.

If you students are podcasting about a specific topic the odds are that there will also be coverage by the mainstream media outlets. You can refer to their stories by having students research additional coverage and express whether they agree or disagree with the points of view of others.

3. WHAT STRUGGLE(S) AM I CURRENTLY FACING? ASK FOR HELP.

When students are having difficulty with a topic or task they can learn by asking and talking to others about the issue.

4. WHAT SUCCESSES HAVE YOUR STUDENTS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED? SHARE HOW THEY DID IT.

Everyone scored well on the last test? The projects for the science fair were awesome? Share the highlights and success stories on the podcast.

5. INVITE A GUEST TO COME ON THE PODCAST FOR A “CONVERSATION.”

Bring on other people with other points of view and perspective to share their ideas and thoughts. Learn by interviewing others and listening.
